Man of the Match : Joe Root

Welcome to Cricwild. England has won 2 of the 3 games they’ve played so far. They lost to Pakistan in the 6th match of the ICC World Cup 2019. Eoin Morgan, the English skipper, was all praises for Jason Roy who was a major contributor in defeating Bangladesh by over 100 runs. It was surely an improvement compared to how they played against Pakistan and lost.

West Indies, on the other hand, have been struggling to make a mark in the competition so far. They did play exceptionally well against Pakistan and lost their second match to Australia, given how teams like India, Australia and New Zealand are playing, the West Indies have a lot of catching up to do. England :

England has won 2 of the 3 games they’ve played so far. They lost to Pakistan in the 6th match of the ICC World Cup 2019. Eoin Morgan, the English skipper, was all praises for Jason Roy who was a major contributor in defeating Bangladesh by over 100 runs. It was surely an improvement compared to how they played against Pakistan and lost.

after a shocking defeat to Pakistan, England dominated every department against Bangladesh, as they first put up 386 runs on board and then bundled them out for 280 in the 49th over. The openers, determined not to fall into the trap of spin bowling, gave a perfect start, as Jason Roy mastered his way to 153. While Ben Stokes has been giving some priceless overs with the ball, Moeen Ali is likely to return in the playing eleven, considering the number of left-handers in the West Indies line-up.

Among the England bowlers, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer are currently the fastest bowlers in the tournament. They have been testing speeds of over 150 km/h and will pose a threat to any batting side.England should comply with their one spinner combination as of now although the number of left-handers in the Windies set-up could have a say in whether Ali could play or not.

There are still doubts around the form of Adil Rashid, who had started the World Cup with an injury to the shoulder. He has shown improvement but still remains under observation.

West Indies :

West Indies, on the other hand, have been struggling to make a mark in the competition so far. They did play exceptionally well against Pakistan and lost their second match to Australia, given how teams like India, Australia and New Zealand are playing, the West Indies have a lot of catching up to do. They have an exemplary batting order, and they try and focus on the same to win games.

Chris Gayle had a magical series against England where he smashed a world-record 39 sixes and kept scoring runs with unbelievable consistency. So much of Chris Gayle’s batting is about confidence that we believe he is going to come into this game in a good frame of mind.

Andre Russell and Evin Lewis should be drafted back provided they prove their fitness prior to this game. This could force Darren Bravo and Kemar Roach out of the side as West Indies add more batting might to their side. West Indies’ short-ball tactics have worked well for them with Australia, South Africa and Pakistan succumbing to them.
