#England vs Afghanistan Team News

England :

Eoin Morgan’s side have impressed with three victories from four matches so far at this summer’s tournament, the only blip coming in a surprise defeat to Pakistan at Trent Bridge. Currently they are at 4th place of ICC world cup points table with NRR of +1.557.

England is definitely going to rest Roy and maybe even Morgan. This means that James Vince is going to play and Moeen Ali could come back into the side also.

The form of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and the others is good enough for England to come into this match confident of a victory. Root has two centuries to his name already and is currently the fourth highest run-getter in the entire tournament.

Brits have a few injury concerns as Mark Wood, Jofra Archer and Liam Dawson developed niggles in the last game. The hosts may not take the risk of playing the trio ahead of the main round.

Afghanistan :

Afghanistan edged past Pakistan in Bristol, winning the match by three wickets. After a solid bowling show, their top and middle order guided the Afghans home in their first warm-up encounter.but have disappointed so far, losing all four of their matches fairly comfortably. Currently they are at last place in ICC world cup points table.

No batsmen from Afghanistan has been able to score a century in the cricket world cup 2019. The highest score for their side has been 59. Only two batsmen have scored a fifty and not even a single batsman has reached 100 runs for the tournament in total.

In the bowling department, Rashid Khan showed that he can do well in non-spin friendly conditions. Mujeeb Ur Rahman had an off day and he’ll be desperate to step up.Even Mohammad Nabi has struggled apart from that spell against Sri Lanka.

Picking three spinners would be the right way to go because England’s weakness against spin bowling is perhaps the only way they can win this match.
