#Australia vs West Indies Team News

Australia :

Australia’s attack has been strengthened by the return of David Warner and Steve Smith. The duo is set to steer Australia’s title defense. Both players have already marked their arrival by performing in IPL 2019.

Glenn Maxwell was mostly surplus to requirements in that opening game but he too is in great form – batting at five and offering an extra spin-bowling option as well.

Adam Zampa was preferred to Nathan Lyon as Australia’s spin option for their opening game against Afghanistan. On the batting front David Warner opened, with Usman Khawaja pushed down to number three and Shaun Marsh missing out. The team is likely to be unchanged against West Indies.

The biggest difference between the two sides is going to be the bowling. The Australians have a very good bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. These are two genuinely quick bowlers that are always searching for wickets. Nathan Coulter-Nile as the third seamer is not bad either.

West Indies :

West Indies were in dominant form in their opening win against Pakistan but they did end up with a couple of injury worries on the back of that win. Andre Russell dismissed fears about his slight injury, stating it was nothing out of the ordinary, while West Indies also do not expect Chris Gayle’s back injury to rule him out against Australia.

The West Indies batting line-up will consist of game-changers like Chris Gayle and Keiron Pollard. Having thrashed Pakistan in their previous game, West Indies will be hoping to continue the winning momentum. Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran are also expected to play a vital role in West Indies’ hunt for the trophy.

Shai Hope arrived at the tournament in excellent form, meanwhile – he only scored 11 in the opening game but still averages above 50 in ODI cricket and scored 170, 109, 30, 87 and 74 in his previous five ODI innings.

The West Indian players will need to take their time and get their eye in before going hard. They have the power in the side to be able to catch up later on thanks to Russell, Holder, and Brathwaite in the lower-order.
